    Posted by Mustafa Yusufali

Taiwan, Taipei, June 3, 2021 - QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, and storage solutions innovator, today launched the high-performance 6-bay TVS-672X and 8-bay TVS-872X 10GbE NAS with Intel® Core™ i3 processors. With expandable storage capacity and feature-rich apps, both models support M.2 NVMe SSD cache acceleration, PCIe expansion, multi-cloud backup, 4K@60Hz HDMI output, real-time transcoding, support for Azure Active Directory Domain Services (Azure AD DS), and many more features to enhance the workflows and productivity of small and medium businesses.

“The 10GbE-ready TVS-x72X is a step up from the TVS-x72N 5GbE NAS. Users can take advantage of the built-in dual M.2 SSD slots for SSD caching or Qtier auto-tiered storage, enjoying optimized storage efficiency and performance while maximizing 10GbE potential,” said Joseph Chiang, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “Secure remote access and comprehensive file management also make the TVS-x72X series ideal for a remote working file center to improve teamwork and productivity.”

The TVS-x72X series features an Intel® Core™ i3-8100T quad-core 3.1 GHz processor with dual-channel DDR4 memory (upgradable to 64 GB). It provides two Gigabit and one 10GBASE-T RJ45 (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) port to increase virtual machine performance, intensive file access, high-speed backup/restore, and media file transfer. Four USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports also allow compatibility with newer, faster USB drives/expansion enclosures for transferring large media files. The TVS-x72X series is perfectly suited for use with QNAP’s budget-friendly managed and unmanaged 10GbE switches for high-speed, secure, and scalable network environments.

Users can configure SSD caching by using either 2.5-inch SSDs or two M.2 NVMe 2280 SSDs (sold separately) in the TVS-x72X. PCIe expandability empowers greater NAS usage potential by installing QNAP’s QM2 cards, 2.5/5/10/25GbE network cards, Fibre Channel cards, and storage expansion cards. The TVS-x72X series provides an HDMI 2.0 output that supports up to 4K (3840 x 2160p) @60Hz, and allows for directly displaying multimedia, virtual machines, or an Ubuntu® desktop on a monitor or TV.

The TVS-x72X series meets storage demands for security, backup, file sharing, and central management. Block-based snapshots ensure data protection and instant restoration, helping users protect against ransomware threats. HBS (Hybrid Backup Sync) facilitates local/remote/cloud backup tasks and saves time and storage with the help of QuDedup technology that deduplicates backup files at the source. The TVS-x72X NAS can also act as a business-class backup center by supporting backup/restore of cloud data and VMs (including Google™ Workspace, Microsoft 365®, VMware® and Hyper-V). Team collaboration can be greatly improved with Qsync for file synchronization. The built-in App Center increases NAS application potential, such as hosting multiple virtual machines and containers and deploying a cloud storage gateway.

TVS-x72X NAS users can switch the operating system from QTS to QuTS hero - QNAP’s ZFS-based NAS operating system. Providing end-to-end data integrity, data reduction (inline data deduplication, compression and compaction), and much more, QuTS hero uses additional system resources to ensure an optimal environment for protecting business data.

  • Protect your data from ransomware with Snapshots

    Posted by Mustafa Yusufali

A snapshot a day keeps data loss away!

Whether you are a home or business user, ransomware is a real and growing threat to your computers and network-based devices. A simple yet effective method of mitigating the threat of ransomware is to ensure that you always have up-to-date, remotely-stored backups. QNAP NAS is an ideal backup center that supports point-in-time snapshots to help you protect important data, restore files, and avoid downtime.

Snapshots: Quickly back up and restore your system and data

Snapshots record the metadata of files outside the file system and allow you to preserve and restore multiple versions of the same file, folder or even the entire volume. If ransomware attacks or if files/data are unexpectedly modified, you can quickly and easily revert to a previously-recorded state stored by a snapshot.

    1First

Disconnect your computer from the network – removing cables where possible to prevent the ransomware from spreading to other devices.

    2Second

When connecting to the NAS, ensure that your computer does not mount any infected shared folders until the snapshot is restored.

    3Next

Open “Storage & Snapshots” on your NAS to view your current snapshots.

    4Last

Select a snapshot taken before the ransomware attack, delete all files in the infected folder, then restore those files with the snapshot.

    All QNAP NAS support Snapshots
Do not buy a NAS that can’t take snapshots!

Snapshots and Backups are two essential ways of protecting important data. Make sure you buy a NAS that supports Snapshots!
