    Posted by Mustafa Yusufali

Taipei, Taiwan, May 18, 2022- QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking, and storage solution innovator, today launched new enterprise-grade rackmount NAS model, the TS-h1886XU-RP R2 NAS which runs on QuTS hero, a ZFS-based file system. Powered by Intel® Xeon® D-1622 processor and 32GB DDR4 Error Correcting Code (ECC) memory, the TS-h1886XU-RP R2 delivers reliable server-grade performance to help enterprises tackle modern business IT challenges, including high-speed centralized file storage, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and cloud storage gateways.

“The TS-h1886XU-RP R2 provides enterprises with a high-performance cost-effective 10GbE NAS. Compared to its predecessor, it has four 2.5GbE ports, making file transfer and information sharing more efficient. The TS-h1886XU-RP R2 is fully equipped to support virtualization applications, remote backup and disaster recovery, cloud storage gateways, and security management to maximize the efficiency and value of enterprise IT,” said Jerry Deng, product manager of QNAP.

The 2U rackmount TS-h1886XU-RP R2 serves as a hybrid storage device with twelve 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive-bays, six 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s SSD slots. It features dual channel DDR4 ECC (expandable to 128 GB) which can detect and correct single-bit errors, along with dual redundant power supplies for enhanced system reliability. It has three PCIe slots, one of which has a preinstalled dual-port 10GbE SFP+ network expansion card that supports high performance RDMA protocols (including RoCE and RoCEv2) which significantly reduces CPU load and application latency. The PCIe slots support adding high-speed 25GbE network cards, an entry-level graphics card (supports accelerating AI-enhanced apps such as image recognition), a QM2 card to add M.2 SSD caching, or a SAS expansion card to connect multiple storage expansion devices and achieve PB-level storage.

The TS-h1886XU-RP R2 uses the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system. Designed with a focus on data integrity, the ZFS file system is self-healing and WORM (Write Once, Read Many Times) compliant. It also supports block-level inline data deduplication and compression technology for optimal storage utilization, faster data transfer, and longer SSD lifespan. It also features up to 65,535 snapshots and real-time SnapSync to fully record system status and data. QNAP App Center also offers a wide selection of apps to expand NAS potential, including natively hosting virtual machines and containers, flexible local/remote/cloud backup, Google™ Workspace and Microsoft 365® backup, VMware® and Hyper-V virtual machine backup, setting up cloud storage gateways to deploy a hybrid cloud, with WireGuard VPN supported.
