• QNAP Supports Archiware P5 and Pure to Offer Feature-rich Cloud, Tape, and Free VMware VM Backup

    Posted by TechComp USA

Taipei, Taiwan/ Munich, Germany, December 10, 2019 - QNAP® Systems, Inc. and Archiware®, an expert in data management software, have jointly announced that QNAP NAS operating system QTS 4.4.1 now supports the latest Archiware P5 and Pure software. This continuous integration will assist media and entertainment (M&E) and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to secure their digital assets and VMware® virtual machines (VMs) intelligently and easily.

The latest QTS 4.4.1 enhances QNAP NAS usability by incorporating highly-anticipated services, including cloud storage gateways for easy hybrid cloud storage applications, source-based deduplication for optimizing backup and recovery efficiency, a Fibre Channel SAN solution, and much more. Archiware’s P5 software suite offers platform agnostic data management for backup, archiving, and cloning. The browser-based software is now optimized to run on QTS 4.4.1, and comprises four distinctive modules for securing and restoring data: P5 Synchronize, P5 Backup, P5 Backup2Go, and P5 Archive. For long-term and offsite data protection, P5 Backup and P5 Archive also support QNAP NAS data backup to LTO tape and public cloud as storage target options. The mini-MAM features of P5 Archive make finding and re-using assets extremely easy.

Virtualization is an essential component to modern IT infrastructures. Integrated with Archiware Pure 2.0, QNAP NAS can provide a perfect backup solution for ensuring VMware virtual machines are maintained and have a safe backup. Archiware Pure is free software with optional paid technical support, which can help SMB customers secure VMware environment for free and simplify backup and restore of virtual machines.

“The data management solution that integrates Archiware P5, Archiware Pure, and QNAP extend customer’s data management capabilities while providing them secure data protection and long-term storage previously only available to enterprises,” said Josef Doods, CEO of Archiware. “Long-term preservation of media assets on LTO tape offers the most professional and durable solution at the lowest price point per terabyte (TB). Archiware and QNAP are now making this accessible for more customers to make preserving, tagging and finding assets for re-use, reference and monetization as easy as creating media.”

“We are very excited to team up with Archiware to bring enterprise-grade backup and disaster recovery capabilities to organizations of all sizes,” said Meiji Chang, General Manager of QNAP. “As file sizes become larger and video resolution continues to improve, and companies are placing important production and operations data into VMs, our partnership with Archiware eliminates the challenges of backup and recovery of media files and VMware VMs.”

  • QNAP Launches Single-port 4-Speed 5GBASE-T NIC for NAS or PC

    Posted by TechComp USA

Taipei, Taiwan, December 12, 2019 – QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today launched the new QXG-5G1T-111C single-port PCIe 5GBASE-T NIC that supports four network speeds. Users can install the card in the PCIe 2.0 x1 slot of a compatible QNAP NAS or a Windows®/Linux® PC to upgrade data transfer speed using existing CAT 5e cables, providing organizations or individuals with a flexible and economical 5GbE network connectivity solution.

The QXG-5G1T-111C uses Marvell® AQtion AQC111C Ethernet controller that supports 5/2.5/1Gbps and 100Mbps network speeds. By installing the QXG-5G1T-111C that has a standard RJ45 connector design, users can instantly upgrade transmission speeds to 5Gbps with existing CAT 5e cables in their network environment.
“Many businesses, home users, and gamers have higher network speed requirements, but do not necessarily require 10GbE bandwidth,” said Dan Lin, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “QNAP 5GbE network expansion card supports four transfer rates and delivers five times higher speed than Gigabit transmission, allowing users to easily upgrade their PCs or NAS systems with 5Gbps capability to accommodate intensive data transfer and boost productivity.”

Windows and Linux users need to download the QXG-5G1T-111C driver. Driver installation is not required for a QXG-5G1T-111C installed on a QNAP NAS running on QTS 4.3.6 (or later).

QNAP will launch two more 5GbE network expansion cards soon, including QXG-5G2T-111C Dual-port PCIe Gen 3.0 x2 card and QXG-5G4T-111C Quad-port PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 card to meet diverse network upgrade requirements

  • QNAP Launches Dual Port 16Gb/32Gb Fibre Channel Expansion Cards

    Posted by Mustafa Yusufali

Taipei, Taiwan, October 17, 2019 – To meet market demands for reliable and low-latency Fibre Channel (FC) SAN, QNAP® Systems, Inc. has launched two in-house developed Fibre Channel expansion cards: the QXP-16G2FC and QXP-32G2FC. The dual-port FC cards feature high performance, reliable, secure, and energy efficient FC connectivity with QXP-16G2FC and QXP-32G2FC respectively supporting 16Gb FC and 32Gb FC connection speeds. A QNAP NAS with a QNAP FC card can be easily added to an existing FC SAN environment, providing enterprises affordable high-performing storage and backup.

“FC SAN are generally closed network environments that often require costly devices with limited deployment flexibility to set up,” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “By integrating QNAP NAS protocols with Fibre Channel, users can add QNAP NAS to their existing FC SAN environment more affordably than with SAN devices, while satisfying applications that require low latency, high reliability, and fast data transfers, such as in financial services, data centers, and film or television industries.”

Users can install a QNAP FC expansion card into a QNAP NAS’s PCIe slot and then configure a Fibre Channel target using the QTS iSCSI & Fibre Channel app, while leveraging QTS’s rich business features, including advanced LUN snapshot protection, auto-tiering (Qtier), SSD cache acceleration, hybrid cloud backup solution (HBS), and more to make storage applications more efficient. The QNAP NAS performs as a unified storage solution that provides SAN, NAS, and cloud storage features with better cost-effectiveness and application flexibility.

QNAP FC expansion cards support business-class QNAP NAS running on QTS 4.4.1 (or later) operating system. To learn more about QNAP Fibre Channel SAN solution and its compatibility list, visit https://www.qnap.com/go/solution/fibrechannel-san/.

Why are External Storage Solutions Considered Traditional Today?

Remember the struggle over space issue and hardware malfunctions back in the days? You could have your most crucial data backed up in your external drive to keep it safe and suddenly the drive malfunctions due to connectivity issues or malfunctions due to excessive storage. Above all, who in the 21st Century carries a bulky external device around to store their everyday needs?

Here’s Why NAS is an absolute gem to storage hoarders

Even if your work is not all about storage and back-ups, NAS is still the one for you and here’s why

    • Never lose your data- While external hard drives were limited by their space or storage potential, the NAS, which is basically a network with an infinite amount of space for you to go gaga over storage.
    • Always stay protected-Here’s a myth that needs to go. Just because it’s on the network doesn’t mean its prone to corruption or hacking and in case it is, NAS comes with its own built-in protections
    • One huge data warehouse-All your data- both crucial and miscellaneous, stored under one big secure roof.
    • Make the best of mobility-Imagine being in touch with your data as and when required- at your home, in your office, and even on-the-go.
    • Get your group together-qnap nas network attached storage by Sanford-based tech geniuses come with easy file cross-platform file sharing amongst groups.
