Taipei, Taiwan, December 12, 2019 – QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today launched the new QXG-5G1T-111C single-port PCIe 5GBASE-T NIC that supports four network speeds. Users can install the card in the PCIe 2.0 x1 slot of a compatible QNAP NAS or a Windows®/Linux® PC to upgrade data transfer speed using existing CAT 5e cables, providing organizations or individuals with a flexible and economical 5GbE network connectivity solution.

The QXG-5G1T-111C uses Marvell® AQtion AQC111C Ethernet controller that supports 5/2.5/1Gbps and 100Mbps network speeds. By installing the QXG-5G1T-111C that has a standard RJ45 connector design, users can instantly upgrade transmission speeds to 5Gbps with existing CAT 5e cables in their network environment.
“Many businesses, home users, and gamers have higher network speed requirements, but do not necessarily require 10GbE bandwidth,” said Dan Lin, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “QNAP 5GbE network expansion card supports four transfer rates and delivers five times higher speed than Gigabit transmission, allowing users to easily upgrade their PCs or NAS systems with 5Gbps capability to accommodate intensive data transfer and boost productivity.”

Windows and Linux users need to download the QXG-5G1T-111C driver. Driver installation is not required for a QXG-5G1T-111C installed on a QNAP NAS running on QTS 4.3.6 (or later).

QNAP will launch two more 5GbE network expansion cards soon, including QXG-5G2T-111C Dual-port PCIe Gen 3.0 x2 card and QXG-5G4T-111C Quad-port PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 card to meet diverse network upgrade requirements
